Independence is a concept of being the master of one's own fate. This concept is applied to both Minifigs and entire Factions.

It is commonly cited as being one of the leading causes of war. When Rebels rise up against the parent factions, much like when a 16 year old rises up against their mom when Metal is banned from the household.
