GR Military, end of 2016

The Galacian Republic or GR in simpler terms, is a TL6 Empire that controls the majority of the Gold Sector. It emerged as the dominant power after years of infighting and internal strife following the collapse of the Elkossian Empire, which was destroyed at the conclusion of a short but incredibly destructive war with Peach Invaders.

History

Originating from a merging of anti-communists refugees who fled the Western Kievan region of the Pan-Slavia sector and the local population who were still stuck in the feudal ages, The Galacian republic is a state that has existed in a sector close to that of the Halkron sector of the Galaxia Nehellenium. It sprung from the ruins of the Elkossian Empire in G.R 2014 after several other failed states had laid claim to heir of the Empire. The Elkossian Empire had enjoyed relative peace and progress until G.R 2011 when it was invaded and embroiled in a years long war against a gargantuan Peach invasion consisting of many factions that banded together. The resulting war balkanized the Empire and forced it to retreat and consolidate to it's core systems. Government remnants would rise and fall for 2 or 3 years after the war. It wasn't until G.R 2014 that a stable power, controlling the capital and having regained control of key systems in the sector, declared the beginning of a "reformation" and the state would now be known as the "Galacian Republic". After which, several other successor states and separatist groups alike would compete for control, independence or sovereignty in the sector and argue over whom is the legitimate government, like they had been for the past 5 years.

While this new Government offered the empire a true chance to legitimately rebuild, Former colonies in other systems in the region did not necessarily want to follow Galacian law, as they had sought or recieved assistance elsewhere, or rebuilt on their own. There would be no fewer than four other groups that refused to be re-integrated into Galacian law. By 2016 what was essentially a second Civil War started which has escalated in scale and ferocity only to be outdone by "The Great War" itself.

Culture and Society

Galacian society is both proud and humble, a large percentage of the population identify as simple citizens and colonists who want nothing more than food on the table, a house that doesn't look like shit, something to do for fun, and to witness or participate in some violence once in a while. Most Galacians live in towns and cities, in small private homes or apartment buildings, Larger government run tenements and projects have been on the rise, however these dwellings are normally populated by the poor and are thought to breed crime and dissent.

Galacian culture is very intolerant of Peaches. While slavery is banned throughout the empire, this hasn't stopped them from refusing to grant citizenship to the peach population depriving them of the right to vote as well as many other basic liberties enjoyed by non peaches, and Corrections facilities are often full of peaches. This hatred and flat out racism comes from an itense grudge most Galacian minifigs hold as a result of the Great War.

The national pastime of Galacia is "Team Ice Fighting", which appears to be little different than Ice Hockey, but weapons are often used in fights, like sticks, benches, and whatever the spectators throw on the ice. Fans are known to jump onto the ice and join a fight or start one in the bleachers too.

The national animal is the husky breed of dog. The national "colors" are Orange and Sometimes Red. although the military primarily uses white and black. Alcoholism is widespread in the empire, getting shitfaced is considered a right of passage, and one that is repeated every other week.

Governance

The Galacian Republic is officially an Indirect Democracy, where each populated colony elects a number of representatives to decide on laws and issues on their behalf. In reality due to Martial Law, the Republic is essentially a Military Junta with many civil laws being suspended throughout most of the empire. The military however has allowed several prominent politicians as well as the overall head of state to continue to hold power during martial law and has upheld some of the most important civil laws where feasable, a decision that has proven to calm many citizens worried about the brutality and lack of transparency or oversight from the Military council.

Relations

  • At home in the Gold Sector, The Galacian Republic is at war or some amount of contention with a number of rebel states and wholly independent organizations all competing for dominion over the sector

Alliances and Coalitions

The GR was an Observer member of EPEEN, but suspended their membership after Nationalist takeover, Mostly due to the Space Mafia taking control of Emeria. It resumed it's Observer membership in G.R 2016 although still not knowing what the f*** was going on with the Alliance.

  • Immortal War The GR has no stance on the conflict and has no interest of ever becoming involved.
  • AN-TA War The GR Had no official stance during the war, and wished to remain neutral as it had sympathies with both sides during the conflict. It nearly sided with the Third Alliance as it's enemy, the Zaphor Confederacy, was seeking to join the USA on the AN side. The conflict ended before either side could join their respective alliances however.
  • Communo-Fascist InsurgencyThe Mozorovan Socialist Union was largely seen as a USSSR puppet republic until mid 2016 when it was beaten back to the brink, the Soviets abandoned their puppet and they were forced to ally with other rebel groups in the Gold sector. in late 2016 the GR officially entered the conflict on the side of the Intermarium Coalition, despite not actually signing as a member. The Republic pledged to assume responsibility for the entirety of the Southern front along the Kiyevan SSR and Kharkiv SSR. as a result the GR has a conditional alliance with the Poles.

Organizations and Groups

Galacian Army - The Army has a proud history dating back to the foundation of the empire, and is most remembered for it's heroic last stand on the home world during the peach wars. The Army held out long enough for the Navy to launch a last ditch assault on peach positions to give the Army a fighting chance to turn the tide, which they did. While the ESR's overall military force has been reduced to a fraction of it's former strength, it maintains a very large and well equipped Land force, the Army upholds the legacy of their forbears. This pride has transformed into a violent sense of superiority, in the years following the victory, the Galacian Army has become increasingly more brutal in both it's wartime and peacetime actions. The ESR Army has been accused of War Crimes by many peach and peach-sympathizing parties

Galacia's 4 largest corporations

Civil Protection - Civil Protection is the official government force that polices the populace on Republic worlds in peacetime and in the cities.

Major Galacian Companies and Corporations

  • SUZU - An automotive manufacturer specializing in high performance motorcycles for domestic sale and export
  • Kybov Arms - A military small arms manufacturer
  • Sich Precision - Another small arms manufacturer
  • Urving Energy - An Energy and Resource extraction giant

Military

Infantry

The Army fields a large, well equipped and diverse infantry force that is supported by armored transports and fighting vehicles. Most of it's troops are equipped with high grade kinetic or energy weaponry and composite hardsuit armor. Since G.R 2014 the Army began fielding genetically modified cybernetic soldiers clad in heavy power armor, unlike the regular army these units serve the rest of their lives in the military. They are essentially a subfaction of the GR, as they are seldom deployed alongside regular minifig troops.

Troop Types

Overview of Infantry types within Galacian Military

Non enlisted troops

  • Militia - While more a trait of the rebel opposition, the GR uses loyalist paramilitary and civilian militia in some circumstances, often using antiquated weapons and equipment when the situation warrants it. Sometimes these Paramilitary units are sent on missions of questionable ethics, such as inciting an uprising in a neutral zone, as they are not apart of the army the government will sometimes excuse these incidents as spontaneous uprisings of Galacian minorities, as it is very difficult to tell what is a true armed militia uprising, and what was a government operation that was just made to look that way

Regular Enlisted

  • Trooper - The regular army soldier is trained to do little more than take or defend ground, kill the enemy and act in support of other units. He is equipped with a medium hardsuit, and carries either a Kybov LPR37 Light Pulse rifle or a Sich S96 Pulse Battle rifle. He may also sometimes carry a Zudnik AP disposable rocket launcher or a large supply rucksack on his back. Most soldiers also carry an OT stick grenade and a bayonet or knife.
  • SAW Gunner - A SAW gunner carries a Squad Pulse Automatic Weapon (SPAW) and more or less does the same role as the Trooper, albeit by bringing more dakka to the table. A standard GR Rifle squad will normally have 1 SAW gunners and 5 regular troopers.
  • Combat Medic - A specialist Trooper that carries medikal equipment that is capable of reconstructing fallen minifigs. When his medikal services are not required, the Combat Medic is no less capable of a fighter as the rest of the squad.
  • Weapons Specialist - Every infantry squad will have a single weapons specialist, this soldier carries a heavy or advanced weapon to give the unit advanced firepower, He will usually carry a Shuka Pulse HMG or sometimes a Zudnik-H heavy rocket launcher, sometimes other equipment too.
  • NCO - This is typically a veteran soldier who used to have a job as one of the above roles, Through battle prowess this soldier often acts as a 2IC of a squad and are also used to support Commissioned officers in the field. He usually carries an LPR or Battle rifle
  • Squad Leader - A high ranking NCO that acts as the commander of an infantry squad of 10 soldiers including himself. He provides leadership and gives tactical orders.
  • Airborne Trooper - A specialist light infantry trooper trained to perform air assaults with Berkut assault craft. Often striking behind enemy lines. He usually carries an LPR or PBR. Airborne troops are also quite fond of melee weapons for some reason, some kind of ritual or tradition.
  • Force Recon - This is a special forces operator that is often apart of 3-4 minifig teams that are attached to infantry platoons. They perform a very wide range of roles, including but not limited to Sniper, Demolitions, Scout, as well as acting as a regular assault trooper when needed. He carries a variety of weapons, like the LPR, PBR, Zudnik-AP, Duga Sniper rifle, and others.
  • Toxin Trooper - A rare but deadly sight on the battlefield, Toxin Troopers use a weapon that can launch toxic and acidic projectiles over long arcs. These troopers main goal is to cause extreme panic and destroy enemy morale. Their acidic launchers however are somewhat effective at cutting through ABS, so they are often used to flush out entrenched enemies in structures

Officers - Formation leaders of various tiers and ranks, Officers generally are in command of units and control the whole flow of an operation. They have 4 tiers.

  • Tier 1 - Lieutenant-Captain, Wearing armor with Crimson accents. Usually a platoon leader in combat, although some officers do not participate in front line combat
  • Tier 2 - Major-Lieutenant Colonel, Wearing armor with Blue accents. Usually a Company leader of multiple platoons.
  • Tier 3 - Colonel-Commander, Wearing Armor with Silver accents, usually the highest ranking commanding officer who is physically on the field, and not hiding in the safety of a control room
  • Tier 4 - General and above, Usually wearing formal uniforms or customized Armor, These are the "Top brass" of the army, They answer to no one but the Government itself.

Infantry Armor and Ranking Infantry uniforms almost always consist of White composite hardsuit armor over top of white, black or grey body gloves. Helmets are usually white but Medics and Recon units wear Black helms. Almost all enlisted wear heavy black tinted ballistic visors, with the exception of Medics who have dark green, and Recon who have clear. Tier 1 and 2 officers wear red and dark blue visors respectively. Some but very few units wear headgear other than the standard encased helmet.

Troops of specialist training or apart of units considered elite will often have their white armor emblazoned with different patterns or colors indicating what unit they belong to, although this system is somewhat confusing as Officers also use colored armor to indicate rank.

  • White: White with no markings or extra colors is used by all enlisted ranks
  • Fern Green: Used by weapons specialists
  • Dark Orange Accents: Used by squad leaders
  • Orange accented armor: Force Recon
  • Black: Airborne troops often only wear their hardsuit vest and helmet, with a black BDU underneath, some are known to "Go Rambo" and not wear a shirt at all, This practice is not tolerated outside of this unit

Until Late G.R 2015 the Armed forces were still relying on slug firing weaponry as the empire's capacity to produce energy weapons was damaged. However they have resumed use of energy munitions and have rolled out Pulse and Plasma small arms to all ground units

Most Galacian Army small arms use light blue transparent power cores as ammunition. This refined power source is in huge abundance in the sector and is at least marginally more powerful than red transparent, also in abundance in the sector. This LBT is used in pulse weapons primarily, Pulse weapons are complicated hybrid weapons that have traits of both a kinetic and energy weapon. They hit extremely hard and they are very loud. Galacian Pulse weaponry is renowned around the galactic neighborhood for it's "Dakka" Properties...

Transparent neon green and trans bright green have also been refined into use for highly advanced plasma weapons, which have been limited to elite unit usage and on some vehicles. Pulse weapons are a combination of The primary small arms are the Kybov LPR37 and S96 Pulse Battle Rifle, the latter of which is sometimes seen with an underbarrel rifle rocket launcher. Other Common standard weapons in the GR are the Squad Pulse Automatic Weapon *SPAW* a light machinegun pulse weapon, the GMG-50, a much heavier cousin of the SPAW. The Grummond SG12 Shotgun, and the Duga Pulse Sniper Rifle.

Other widespread standard issue weaponry for the troops include Synthetic OT Stick grenades, the Zudnik AP rocket launcher and it's variants. and lastly the Shuka Pulse Heavy Machinegun knicknamed "Buzzsaw" which singlehandedly caused immense butthurt from opposition forces due to it's rate of fire which could only be described as "stupid". . Lighter, troop portable versions were rolled out in G.R 2016 under the name "Mini-Shuka"
